WYHA Open Positions
As a volunteer organization, Webster Youth Hockey is always looking for more volunteers.  During the Fall, we post the Board & Officer positions on their normal 3 year cycle.  During the rest of the year, we are always looking for anyone who is willing volunteer their time or talent/skills to serve as a Webster Committee person. We are grateful for the time and energy parents,coaches, managers and families already contribute.

We are very pleased to announce that the current President, VP Travel, and Board member have been re-elected.  We are very pleased with the number of applications we have received from our members and interviews for the remaining positions will be occurring in February 2018. It is our goal to have everyone who would like to volunteer fill a role and if they are interested, eventually move into an Officer or Board member role.

  • Vice-President - Girls Hockey (OPEN)   Applications being accepted thru 2/27
  • Secretary (OPEN)  Applications being accepted thru 2/27
  • Board of Directors & Officer Positions whose terms end this season  Applications period CLOSED
    • Board Member (1 year term)
  • Some of the Committee Member opportunities include: Applications accepted all year!

    • Manager Coordinators (report to Division VPs)
      • Experienced manager to serve as mentor to new managers & answer questions about "how to?"  OPEN - new position
    • People to help on the Communications & Marketing committee  Several people already serve on this committee but more help is always needed!
    • WNYAHL meeting Webster Rep (attend WNY meeting in Buffalo 8 times a year and report at meetings on Travel issues & decisions) Currently filled by Travel VP & Registrar
    • Empire Commissioners/Reps/Alternates Currently filled by House Director & Registrar, Alternate: Operations VP
    • GLGHL (girls) Rep  Currently the Girls VP
    • Goalie Coordinator  Currently filled by Beginner Director
    • Tournament Directors & Assistant DIrectors for Boulter, Girls and Cyclone Challenge There is always a need for Asst Directors to help the VPs

Frequently Asked Questions about Volunteering with WYHA

Team Positions:
       Head Coach: appointed by the Division VP's
       Asst Coaches/Managers/Locker Room Attendants: selected by head coaches with Division VP input

Committee Member:
      Appointed by Board & Officers
      Generally have very specific roles and responsibilities
      Responsibilities may only last for a portion of the season
           (example: Picture Day coordinator)

Board Members:
      Interview and Appoint Officers, Approve Budget & WYHA Direction
      Must attend Annual Meeting In November     
      Attend Committee Meetings
      May attend Officer Meetings to provide advice when needed
      Generally have extensive Board & Hockey Experience


Officers:
      Responsible for day to day running of WYHA
      Most have Committee members reporting to them

 

Question:  I would like to help but only have limited time?
Answer: Consider helping at the team level on or off ice. Also look at the Committee member roles, many of them have short term responsibilities.  If one of them interests you, contact the Secretary.  Note: WYHA is open to new committee member responsibilities so if you have skills which you think will be helpful to the league, contact the Secretary.
